Bake An Old-Fashioned Pone With Provision And Coconut
Pone is usually a gift from grandmas and aunties who have perfected their recipe over years. This recipe is tried-and-true from our Nani. With copious amounts of butter, the love of ground provision and yummy pumpkin, you’re sure to have a deliciously decadent piece of pone.

INGREDIENTS
- 4 pounds cassava
- 1 pound pumpkin
- 1 large, yellow sweet potato
- 1 dried coconut
- 8 tablespoons butter
- 8 tablespoons lard
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 3 cups granulated sugar
- ½-395 gram tin condensed milk
- 1 cup evaporated milk
- 2 tablespoons mixed essence
- 2 cups granulated sugar Raisins, optional
DIRECTIONS
- Peel pumpkin, sweet potato, cassava and coconut. Then, grate or grind in a food processor.
- Add remaining ingredients; mix well.
- Grease dish well and then, pour mixture into dish.
- Bake at 350°F for one hour.
- Use a skewer or toothpick to test. If it comes up clean, pone is done baking.
- Let cool. Cut and serve.
