Healthy Sawine

 1 pack vermicelli
 4 cups water
 1 tablespoon butter
 2 tablespoons honey
 4 tablespoons full-cream milk
 1 stick cinnamon
 1 teaspoon elychee (cardamom)
 4 cloves
 Cherries, optional
 Almonds, optional

In a bowl, empty the packet of vermicelli and break the noodles with your hands until all pieces are about 1-inch in size.


Heat a heavy metal pot on the stove. Add butter to pot and allow to melt.


Toss in the broken vermicelli and allow to parch, turning constantly so all pieces are covered in butter. Cook until the vermicelli becomes light brown in colour.


Remove the pot from the flame.


Next, in another pot, place 4 cups of water to boil.


Add broken cinnamon and cloves.


Add parched vermicelli and boil until cooked (for approximately 10 minutes, or until the vermicelli is soft).


Add milk to the pot of vermicelli, along with water and spices, and bring to a boil. Now, add honey and sweeten to taste.


When the sawine is done, add cherries and almonds on top and serve immediately.
