Blend Mango and Yogurt for a Creamy Lassi

Blend Mango and Yogurt for a Creamy Lassi

During the Lenten season, seafood options always seem to be far too few. We’ve decided to feature at least one seafood or vegetarian option to have you fully satisfied and prepare for your fast. As always, we don’t skimp on the sweet, so look out for an indulgent treat every week!

MANGO LASSI

Mango lassi is a popular, Indian yogurt-based fruit smoothie. Traditionally made with mango and spiced with cardamom, it’s a happy medium between a refreshing and decadent dessert.

We take advantage of the abundance of sweet, meaty Julie mangoes and blend it with tart, unsweetened yogurt and floral honey. This mixture can also be made into lollies. Just pour the mixture into molds and freeze!

Yields: 1 Serving

Total Time: 5 mins

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 Julie mango, chopped
  • ½ cup crushed ice
  • 1 cup unsweetened, unflavoured yogurt*
  • 2 teaspoons honey
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cardamom

*We used natural yogurt which is not as thick as most brands. Use ¼ to ½ cup milk if lassi is too thick.

DIRECTIONS
  1. Add all ingredients into blender. Blend on high speed for 30 seconds or, until lassi is smooth.
  2. Pour lassi into a tall glass and garnish with cardamom.
  3. Serve chilled.
